As these warm summer days and evening sunlight will soon end, I won’t be sitting outside writing for much longer. I thought I’d take inventory before I’m back to writing indoors.
Some things I did this summer: I listened to a free series of writing webinars called Children’s Book Mastery recently, and was pleasantly surprised to learn about new concepts and tips which I added to my writing process. I submitted one of my picture book manuscripts to the 12 x 12 Critique Ninja and got an (almost) immediate response, with a lot of suggestions that will make my manuscript stronger and ready to be submitted. I revised six different manuscripts, and began writing a middle-grade/possible YA novel. Maybe the best thing of all was winning the Caption It! contest on September 7, 2025. I was greatly surprised! On to the last days of 2025.

Congrats Margaret! It has been a good summer.
