Discovering an Author

I placed a hold on Marie Benedict’s book THE ONLY WOMAN IN THE ROOM, about Hedy Lamarr’s life and her scientific contributions, through our public library system. When I checked it out, I was hoping it would hold my interest, as I had read good things about the novel, but I wasn’t sure if the plot line would work for me.

Gladly, I was wrong- I loved this novel! I read it in three days, and searched for Benedict’s other books on the fiction shelves at my next visit to my branch. I just started THE MYSTERY OF MRS. CHRISTIE, about Agatha Christie’s cryptic eleven-day absence in her younger years. I love this author’s writing style, and hope to sharpen my own writing skills from reading these well-crafted novels. It’s a great use of my reading time!
