Here is a children’s poem I wrote a few years ago for a contest. I don’t usually write poetry, but this piece was simple and fun to write.
Goodbye Autumn Leaves
Sunshine peeks through pearly clouds,
We run to join the growing crowd.
Pumpkins, apples, horse, and cart,
Hayride time, can’t wait to start!
Horse starts to trot, breaks into a run,
Chickens and piglets join in the fun.
Farmer shouts Whoa! then slows to a stop,
Into a mountain of leaves we plop.
Crackly, yet soft as the sheets on my bed,
Traffic light colors, green, yellow, and red.
We grab them and throw them and cover our hair,
Laugh as leaves flutter and float through the air.
Time to go home, sun sinks in the west,
We run to our seats, this day was the best!
Goodbye autumn leaves, you brought us good cheer,
Can’t wait to come back and see you next year!
